The St. Maarten sportfishing foundation is proud to celebrate its 15 year anniversary this year! 2023 marks 15 years as a non profit organization, hosting sportfishing events on the Dutch side of Sint Maarten.

St. Maarten sportfishing foundation (SSFF) quickly delivered by hosting its first deep sea fishing tournament in November 2008, after being established only 7 months prior.

Over the years the SXM Wahoo Tournament has attracted fishermen both locally and regionally to compete each November for lucrative prizes and bragging rights.

The SXM Wahoo Tournament takes place in the midst of the wahoo season and over the years earned the reputation of a well attended fisherman pelagic showdown.

As an added twist to our 15 year celebration, SSFF partnered with Dock Maarten as their new hosting venue. Making a full circle of sorts as our members of the previously known St. Maarten Big Game Fishing Foundation, Robby Cijntje, Ricky Lawrence and the late Egbert “Slim” Richardson, hosted tournaments at this same location for many years.

Dock Maarten is the up and coming marina which features a state of the art mega yacht haven, perfectly located in Philipsburg. Family owned and operated since 1978, Dock Maarten celebrates 45 years in the St. Maarten marine industry this November.

Dock Maarten is also home to the well-known restaurant Chesterfields, famous for their fabulous fresh seafood and award-winning breakfasts.

The SSFF team is excited for this new partnership and are looking forward to hosting the 2023 edition of their SXM Wahoo Tournament at Dock Maarten on November 3rd and 4th.
